*Liam Carr is a Vernon boy born on Jan. 17th. 2010, who was diagnosed with a very rare condition called Panhypopituitarism when he was only 2 weeks old. Panhypopituitarism is a medical condition in which the pituitary gland does not send signals to the body to produce all the hormones. These hormones help with his blood sugars, appetite, stress management, temperature and growth.

As part of having this condition, Liam was also diagnosed with Diabetes Insipidus, in which anti-diuretic hormone is not produced. As a result, his body cannot hold water as well, which could cause an electrolyte imbalance if he is not closely monitored by bi-weekly blood tests.

Liam has to have all 5 hormones introduced daily including a daily growth hormone shot. These are required lifelong expensive treatment, besides regular travel to the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver on a very regular basis for check-ups.
