As a designer, you experience many joys in creating a wedding. First, the flowers arrive from the supplier, your mind starts to work and the design side of your brain takes control, the sizes, colours all begin to take shape and you imagine the perfect bouquet for the bride, following closely to her inspirations and ideas. The possibilities and placements are endless..your hands are anxious to begin.

Next, the basics ~ clean the flowers, removing foliages and giving them a fresh cut and bucket of water to drink from ~ prepare the holder ~ choose the perfect flowers for your intended design, leaving out those with any imperfections or damage from shipment. (This is difficult as each flower is perfect and unique in its own way).

When the time comes to begin the design it is like the blank canvas of an artist, anything is possible. Starting with one stem, then the next the bouquet begins to take shape before your eyes. Each design has its minor hiccups, and constructive criticism, but in the end - a masterpiece.

Generally flowers are picked up by family or friends, therefore we MISS the initial first response of the bride when she sees her flowers ~ if only we could hide a camera in each bouquet?!

We then anxiously await for what we like to call our “love mail”... kind words of thanks, and appreciation, and best of all the PICTURES.

Designing this wedding gave me goosebumps! Imagining the expression on the bride’s face and the excitement she would experience on her special day made me smile, even though I hadn’t met her, I knew she would LOVE them!

When the pictures came, and I saw the love and happiness expressed in each photo, the goosebumps returned. This is what I call a full round about, every aspect of the wedding went off perfectly for us, a happy bride and groom, beautiful celebration, and wonderful memories.

Now A little word from the bride..

I had a very fun experience working with Deb from Harris Flowers. I emailed her only a month prior to our big day in a panic as I had almost forgotten…WE NEED FLOWERS!! I am not much of a flower person so I was more worried about the colours rather than the type of flower. Deb reassured me that I would have no problem getting what I wanted in the short amount of time that I had. I showed up to the shop to meet with her with nothing more than our budget and a picture I had printed for her off the Internet. Her enthusiasm and confidence about these bouquets put my mind at ease and she did it all for exactly what I was willing to spend on something I knew nothing about.

Leading up to the wedding she would send me emails periodically reminding me “to breathe” and that everything was going as planned. Even though she hadobviously done this thousands of times before I came along, she really made me feel like she cared about my wedding “the most” at that time.

On the big day when the flowers showed up to where all the girls were getting ready….THEY WERE PERFECT. The bridesmaids bouquets were more than what I had expected, and my bridal bouquet was AMAZING. I loved how it tied everything together. All the flowers were exactly what I had envisioned. I will definitely be sending brides their way for them to have the experience I did in dealing with Harris Flowers!!!!
